Wow, what an old post! Times change, as do AV solutions. While F-Secure provided good protection, its weight (resource requirements) and unfriendly-to-the-user aspects provided challenges. We used the PSB Portal for about 4 years. After about 2 years we kept waiting for improvements in design and function, none of which came. The long for promised FSAV Macintosh version was finally released reminding me of the vapor-ware issues of old. So we moved.
It was a challenge to find the balance between form, function, and fit. ESET became our choice. Light weight, both in size and resource demand; effective, especially with the "in the wild" code now so prevalent on the Internet; manageable with ERA Server and Console.
Will we ever be happy with AV solutions? Are we too demanding? Mayhaps that be true. Even ESET leaves me a bit challenged yet it's more with depth than lacking. The ESET Remote Access Console has granularity that can be, at times, confusing with the disparate view between local console (in advance mode) and what's seen in the ERA Console. Yet once dialed in, ESET proves to be a great addition to a network.

Was it a Dell workstation? If so, and if you have the Dell OS installer disks, I've yet to see where a serial number is needed. And you are legal, at least by what I've read at Microsoft's site re downgrading.

Let me know.

what about serial numbers and registration? I bought a workstation with XP downgrade - it come with only Vista CDs, and XP was preinstalled with some recovery sistem on the same HD that I lost by partitionig with sysrescuecd - so also if I have other XP CDs I can't be "legal" because I have lost my SN.
Any advice?
thank you

Wow. I'm shocked. Without ANY response from the folks at nostalgia.com., I received a notification from PayPal today that "You've (yeah, me) got a payment". Shocked.

What's funny is that although I wanted to call them daily and follow up with more daily emails, I've only had the time to send one added email in the last week--and no phone calls. Work has kept me blessedly busy.

So here's my update: it took persistent, tenacious (but not very consistent) pursuit of this company to get my monies refunded.

Only $19.75...and with the weak US dollar, I'd probably have been better off paying in peso's, but allowing "them" to keep my hard won funds does little good for me, or anyone else out there. Buyer beware: make sure you do your due diligence when dealing with ANY firm: internet based or not.

Be at peace.
